Awards Contract to Lockheed Martin to Augment Missile

A manufacturing company located in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, VerTech International, Inc., has obtained ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) industry certifications. In addition to these certifications, VerTech International, Inc. has also received recognition from industry giants such as Lockheed Martin, the world-renowned global and aerospace security company that gave it a 100 percent quality rating.

In August 2021, Lockheed Martin announced that the government’s US Missile Defense Agency had awarded a $157 million contract. The contract is for the corporation to augment the government’s Command, Control, Battle Management & Communications (C2BMC) system, a part of the US Missile Defense System. The work will fortify C2BMC’s Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) system comprised of connections to sensors on land and sea, silo-based interceptors, and distributed fire-control and launch support systems.

The upgrade to the GMD, called the Spiral 8.2-7, provides the platform with a single, real-time, complete picture of system threats by connecting data from a set of sensors installed in satellites and ground and ship radars. Upon completion, the GMD’s capabilities will allow it to see the same battlespace picture as those combatant commanders do. Furthermore, the new platform will allow the C2BMC to report hypersonic threats to the Link 16 tactical data link network and display information to operators.

Installed in 2004, the C2BMC has been one of the first systems operating on land and sea. Today, the system works in 30 locations in the US Strategic, Northern, Space, Indo-Pacific, European, and Central Commands, among other locations worldwide.
